Reducing the stress levels in your life is key to help you achieve your potential in everything you do including your training. High levels of stress results in a number of negative effects such as shortening life span,causing you to overheat and can stunt exercise and body composition results.

Here are a few tips about which exercise helps with stress:

Strength Training

Strength training elevates the body’s natural anti-stress system so is perfect to counter attack the physiologic chronic stress responses created by life. It also helps you build muscle, improve your energy and makes you feel fantastic!

There are so many benefits to strength training and it is fantastic for stress management allowing to get rid of aggression and work through problems.

Meditation

Meditation allows for a scheduled time for mental stress reduction. It will not only reduce the levels of stress but will also teach you training techniques to deal with daily stress. Meditation also helps to reduce inflammation caused by stress which damages cells and causes ageing.

Yoga

Research has shown that yoga minimises the sensation of stress and elevates harmful antioxidant levels. Yoga is very popular and if you choose a more relaxation based yoga than a class like hot yoga you should be able to squeeze it into your day without the need to shower after.

Above are some great options for relieving stress however any exercise is going to get you feeling better and help you destress.

Classes

Go along to any exercise class, and due to the camaraderie in a class you can be guaranteed you will walk away with a smile on your face and those feel good hormones, endorphins, flying around the body.

 

Many of our gym members and personal training clients come into the gym and may be tired and stressed but soon feel a lot better after they have trained. You no doubt will have experienced this yourself at some point but as soon as the endorphins get flowing you feel a lot better and this feel good feeling can last a long time after training so going to show that exercise can really help relieve stress.

Choosing exercise like tyre flips, boxing, ball slams and sledge hammer tyre hits are also great stress relief as well as a great workout!
