This weekend is the Tour de Yorkshire. When the Tour de France came to Yorkshire it caused a wave of support from both keen bikers and those just interested in sporting events. The Tour de Yorkshire sets off on Friday in the beautiful historic market town of Beverley (Lucy’s place of birth!) and finishes on Sunday in the sunny seaside town of Scarborough.
If you’re looking for an opportunity to take in some beautiful views and follow some fantastic sport then why not pop down and soak up the amazing atmosphere!
The tour is split over 3 days:
Stage 1 – Beverley to Settle (186km)
Stage 2 – Otley to Doncaster (136km)
Stage 3 – Middlesbrough to Scarborough with the longest distance of 198km.
The route certainly isn’t flat and certainly will prove to be a challenge. A number of locations along the way have organised food festivals and markets to also offer a great chance to sample some healthy locally sourced foods.
So if you’re looking for some excitement this week tie in watching the Tour de Yorkshire with your own training and organise a walk, run, bike either to or along one of the route locations.
