This picture never ceases to amaze me. I just want to give her a big hug every time I look at it. Naomi Farrar is one of my personal training clients. She started her weight loss journey before joining Motive8 as a size 18 back in June 2013. These trousers represent the size she was and she keeps them as a reminder to never fit into them again! In fact, Naomi replaced these trousers this summer in a size 6 – what an amazing personal achievement!
Naomi’s personal training adventure started with me back in March this year. Before then Naomi had been using the on site gym at Saxton and was swimming occasionally – “it was getting slightly boring”. Naomi started joining us in our Fitness Classes at the Saxton studio in December 2013 – “When I finally plucked up enough courage to go along and join in I began to actually ENJOY exercise… An extremely strange turn of events!”
Her hard work and focus has made an incredible impact on her fitness and body shape. “I had a look at what I’d logged in MyFitnessPal- I’m genuinely shocked at the hip and waist ones, I’d forgotten what they were!”

“Starting Personal Training meant I could work on improving specific areas that help with the other training goals I have now. I’m a lot more confident lifting things in classes or the gym (and out of it!) and I’m understanding that a lot of factors in losing weight and fat in the long term aren’t just about burning calories or reducing their input. I’m also simply a lot more comfortable in my own skin through being able to do things I just couldn’t have a year ago.”
As with all personal training success stories, we need to remind people that this progress has not been easy. Bottoming out specific goals was hard in the beginning, then there were the usual food challenges, and finally we’ve been through significant injury which meant reworking plans & training focus. But the key is, Naomi keeps going – adding 10k personal bests and a Spartan Race to her repertoire. As her personal trainer, I just want to thank her for her hard work, and remind her that she should be proud at what she has achieved, she’s an inspiration to me and all those who know her.
P.S. You will be strong enough to deadlift a bear soon Naomi :0)
