In the past couple of weeks at the motive8 North personal training studio in Leeds we have been pleasantly surprised by how many of our clients and class members have kept up with their training regime. To be honest, we shouldn’t be surprised for two reasons. Firstly, last December we didn’t see too much of a drop in the number of personal training sessions we delivered and secondly, we know that due to the good habits we instill into our clients many of our personal training clients and fitness class members will always keep up with their regime no matter what!
However, if you have slipped out of the routine a little, or you just fancy a different workout to work off some of the excess turkey here is a post Christmas fat burning workout especially for you. I love doing this workout with a friend, but you can still do it by yourself if no one else wants to play!
Post Christmas Fat Burning Workout
This Post Christmas Fat Burning Workout should be done in the great outdoors, a playing field is great! Use the bars around the field or a children’s climbing frame to do pull ups. You can do the workout at home if you like and substitute the sprints with burpees and power squats.
Warm Up with a 5 minute jog including high knees, heels to butt, side steps.
Workout
Sprints – Stand at the opposite end of a playing field (or somewhere you can sprint for at least 30 seconds).
Person A sprints towards Person B as fast as they can. When Person A gets to Person B, Person B sets off and sprints as fast as they can to the opposite end. When Person B completes their sprint they shout (or waves if they are too out of breath!) for Person A to set off!
Keep rotating through your sprints in this way until you have both completed 6-8 sprints.
Tri-Sets – Repeat x 3
A. Person A – Press Ups x 15 / Person B – Jump Squats x 15, switch exercises then both complete Plank x 30 seconds. Repeat x 3
B. Person A – Pull Ups x 15 / Person B – Sumo Squats (ass to grass!) x 15, switch exercises then both complete Star Jumps x 30 seconds. Repeat x 3
C. Person A – Tricep Dips x 15/ Person B – Walking Lunges x 16, switch exercises then both complete Travelling Squat Jumps x 30 seconds. Repeat x 3
D. Person A – Hot Hands x 20/ Person B – Power Lunges x 16, switch exercises then both completed Ab Cycles x 30 seconds. Repeat x 3.
