19 year old Ellie had 9 weeks before the end of the semester, a ski trip, and going home for Christmas. Our mission was to get her stronger and leaner within those 9 weeks. Personal training was a way to ensure that Ellie made time for training during a busy University schedule, whilst at the same time ensuring she could still enjoy some of the student experience! And she SMASHED IT!
But before we get onto those vital statistics, I wanted to share some of the other achievements of Ellie’s personal training story. Remember that one of her goals was to get stronger – and when she came to us she could squat 50kg no problem. However, what we both noticed is that certain lifts were not being performed as a full range of movement. For example squats were not parallel and chest presses did not come low enough to her chest.
And this is why Ellie smashed it. She wasn’t afraid or disheartened to strip it back to make sure we not only got stronger but we enabled this strength to be performed at full range. People often overlook the fundamentals of weight training – before you can go heavy you need to get that technique right. It’s not a step back to lower the weights – it’s a way to progress – and Ellie is a testament to that. Absolutely awesome to train.
