Well done to the December winners at motive8 North! Lots of hard work and effort put into this month’s workouts….well done!
We look forward to a healthy and active 2016!
Gym Member of the Month – Michael Price
Micheal is a great member at motive8 North, although he doesn’t attend day after day like some of our members do, he comes religiously two times a week without fail and always works hard. He is keen to educate himself about both exercise and nutrition and take himself one step closer towards his goals, he also has a great sense of humour!
How long have you been a member of the motive8 gym?
Two years
Why do you train at the motive8 gym?
It’s really friendly and got a nice atmosphere. That counts for a lot. Even though I don’t have PT sessions I get really good advice and can ask about different workouts because the staff are all really approachable. The other members are spot on and there’s never any issue with equipment usage, etc. I’m into fitness and between my wife and daughters, I go to four gyms. Motive8 is the best by far. However, the music is sometimes a bit suspect! (JC comment…..when Chris is working!!)
What was your goal when you started at the gym?
General fitness and some toning but also to do something productive at lunchtime.
What is your current goal?
More of the same with no real end goal.
What’s your biggest accomplishment since you have been training?
I’ve got stronger and more toned. I’ve also learned more in my time at Motive8 than any other period of training about technique and having good form. The instructors have helped me a lot.
I feel like I’ve got a really good balance of training and nutrition. I had a session with Lucy where we went through diet and it was absolutely excellent and completely changed my mindset to food. I thoroughly recommend that.
Awesome work Michael, well done!
Class Member of the Month – Sophie Lesaichot
This months our winner is certainly very special as Sophie has been attending our classes at motive8 North since we opened!
Sophie is extremely hardworking and has overcome several injuries (not from our classes!) to develop her strength and fitness and has successfully completed several 10k’s, getting faster each time!
We would also like to thank Sophie for her continued support over the last 4 years and look forward to training with Sophie for many years to come!
How long have you been attending classes at MC?
Since the start of 2012.
Which classes do you attend?
Usually the circuit classes on Mondays and then bootcamp and Wednesday circuits when I can.
What’s your favourite class and why?
The circuit class on Monday. It’s perfect to blow off the cobwebs from the weekend and get the week started on a positive note. Ieuan is a great coach, sprinkling his class with witty comments to keep us smiling all the way through in spite of the pain. 🙂
What’s your favourite exercise?
Definitely the hammer! There’s nothing more satisfying at the end of a stressful day than being able to hit that tire as hard as you can… ooooh yes!
What’s your least favourite exercise?
Tricep dips. My nightmare. After all these years, they still feel as horrible as the first time.
Why do motive8 classes differ from any other classes you have attended?
I love the classes, the small groups of motivated people that attend them, and their energy and friendliness. Unlike other gyms, when I come to my classes, I know I won’t just be working out with a coach, I’ll be working out with great, inspiring people, and having a good laugh along the way with amazing gym buddies. 🙂
Well done Sophie! Fancy taking a leaf out of Sophie’s book and coming along to a class? Book here….your first class is FREE!
Personal Training Client of the Month – Jess Fox
What made you decide to get a personal trainer?
I needed get out of bad habits and stop making excuses not to train. I had piled the pounds on and even though I knew I needed to do something I was finding it hard to motivate myself at the gym so wanted someone to help me through!
How long have you been training with Ieuan?
I’ve been training with Ieuan for 7 months.
What was your goal when you started training?
My goal was to lose weight and get fit again and also start enjoying exercise again.
What is your current fitness goal?
My current fitness goal is to keep going and keep losing weight. Also to keep my eating on track over Christmas and the New Year!
What is your proudest accomplishment in your training?
Ridiculous, but my proudest accomplishment is being able to do a proper press up now and standing up without bending my legs hahaha!
What have you found hard during your personal training experience?
BURPEES!!!!!!!!! Also the different weights and changing my flexibility to be able to do other exercise rather than just cardio. Keeping on track with eating/ drinking also because of my social life etc.
What advice would you give to someone thinking about starting personal training?
Definitely do it… it makes training fun and interesting rather than just being in the gym doing the same thing over and over without anyone really pushing you or helping to motivate you.
What is Ieuan like as a Personal Trainer?
FAB!! He is very positive and motivational- also supportive and encouraging when you are struggling/ being a diva!
If you had to give your PT an exercise or workout to do what would it be?
A circuit of burpees/ sandbag carrying and walking weighted lunges! All my favourites!
Well done Jess!
