February sees the relaunch of our member of the month award! This month’s member of the month is ….drum roll…….Grant Walker! Grant is a gym member at motive8 and trains around three times a week. He’s a ‘crack on and get on with it’ type of guy, but always has time for a friendly chat too and has recently started personal training too. We love his attitude to training as he is very self-motivated and really likes to push himself!
Let’s find out a bit more about Grant, why he enjoys training at motive8
- Why do you enjoy training at motive8?
It’s a proper gym! People go there to workout, not to sit around watch TV and not get a sweat on!
- How long have you trained at motive8 and what were your goals when you originally joined as a gym member?
I’ve trained with motive8 for around 18 months and wanted to increase my strength and gain some lean mass.
- What is your biggest accomplishment since joining as a gym member?
The fact that I am still going after 18 months! Up to the age of 30 I had played a lot of team sports and never really liked going to the gym. I prefer exercising when there’s a ball involved so to still enjoy using the gym is a really big positive for me!
- If you had one piece of advice to give to someone who wanted to join a gym but was a little nervous, what would it be?
Don’t be intimidated. People may look serious when they are working out sometimes, but everyone’s really friendly and they will respect you for being there and doing your thing!
- What is your favourite exercise and least favourite exercise?
Favourite is dumbbell flyes, least favourite is squats!
