I have worked at Motive8 now for just over 2 years, in this time I have helped a huge variety of clients achieve their goals, over this time it has really puzzled me why some clients achieve their goals so much quicker than others. I’ve been mulling over this thought in detail for probably 3 months now, letting it sink in and around the grey matter. Everyone I meet is motivated to make a difference to their life at the start but how many of them are truly committed to seeing it through.

Motivation is such a complex subject and the more I seem to read about it the more confused I get, there are so many factors involved in human behaviour it is ridiculous. However it always comes back to two key points, when I think of motivatio

n I think of someone with desire and drive. However when I think of commitment I think of someone with determination and dedicati

on. Two years ago I would have stood with a big smile on my face and said “what is the difference, if you have one you have the other”. However over the years I have noticed some amazing subtle yet critical differences that make all the difference in what people have achieved.

After all what is commitment without motivation? Or Motivation without commitment?

What I have learnt over this time period is that motivation only sets you off towards a goal, Commitment is what sees you through to the end and success. Committed clients are, the ones that turn up to training after

working 15 hours and doing the food shop, the ones that keep grinding out the runs and resistance session even when they have to physically drag themselves to the gym, the ones that no matter what setback in any aspect of their life happens continue to stick to the plan.

Sit down and have a think do you have any targets that you seem to keep missing, how many times have you repeated the phrase next week…… or I really want to……. But haven’t seen it come to light. You nee

d to have a sit down and ask yourself if you really want that goal! And if you really have the commitment to see it through, because its not about when your motivated and its eas

y, its about when you have no motivation and you’ve got a list 3 miles long of things to do. Will you stick to the plan?

We all want to achieve goals, but are you willing to get them done?

Want is motivation

Get is commitment

Successful clients don’t need motivation

all off the time, their dedication and determination sees them through to achieving their goals.

What are you ready to commit to?
