Motive8’s March Client of the Month – Ben Daine
This month’s client of the month is Ben Daine. Ben has a personal training session once a fortnight with Lucy and comes to our running club too. Ben’s dedication and focus since Christmas has seen him achieve some fantastic results.Well Done Ben!
What made you decide to get a personal trainer?
I originally started doign classes with Motive8 at Saxton where I live and decided to book some PT sessions. It’s really handy with the stuido right here at Saxton. I knew Lucy from classes and had done some 1:1 training previously to get some ideas on training to do in my own sessions so I knew she would push me hard but that the workouts would be fun!
How long have you been training with Lucy?
Since November 2014
What was your goal when you started training?
I wanted to lose weight and improve my running times. With Lucy’s help I have dropped from 14stone 3lbs in January to 12stone 7lb and I have achieved new PBs in running for 5k, 10k and my latest half marathon
What is your current fitness goal?
I now want to focus on increasing my strength and lift heavier particularly upper body and run a 10km in under 50 min as well as losing more body fat and keeping off the weight I’ve lost so far.
What is your proudest accomplishment in your training?
I did the Harerwood House trail half-marathon last month and set a new PB 1:48:30. My previous PB was on roads and was 1:51 so very pleased with myself. I’m also proud of the weight I’ve lost and improved my body shape and composition.
What have you found hard during your personal training experience?
For me it’s consistently sticking to the healthy eating, making time to plan and to prepare meals so I don’t end up with nothing prepped or planned and hungry which is when I know old bad habits can slip back in. I find keeping a food diary for Lucy helps ‘keep me honest’ and she is always suggesting little changes or ideas for quick healthy recipes
What advice would you give to someone thinking about starting personal training?
Definitely worth the investment to have the expert advice and that accountability and personal motivation,Take pictures to see your progress and start saving for some new clothes!
What is Lucy like as a Personal Trainer?
Lucy pushes me to work hard and she is great at keeping me motivated the sessions are always different and she varies my programmes she gives me to work at so I’m never stuck doing the same thing and I’m regularly being shown new exercises. The sessions are always fun and she makes me laugh!
If you had to give your PT an exercise or workout to do what would it be?
Burpees (althoughh she’d probably enjoy them – weirdo)
