With summer just round the corner and bikini season is almost upon us, it’s time to ramp up the training! The best way I’ve found to do that last is by using “finisher” circuits at the end of my usual sessions to fire up the metabolism and burn a few more calories. Finishers are also great if you’re pressed for time as they compact a big work load into a short space of time, just pick 2-3 circuits to do and you’ve got a high intensity workout in a short space of time.
These only take 5-10 minutes and typically consist of 3-4 exercises with minimal rest between each one! I will provide some examples that I’m currently using however the sky’s the limit when it comes to exercise selection. I’d recommend picking compound exercises such as squats, tyre flips and clean & press to maximise the benefits.
The first finisher is inspired by Kate and I’s Wednesday workouts, putting emphasis onto using the tyre and kettlebells.
Finisher 1
- 45 seconds tyre flips
- 45 seconds kettlebell swings
- 45 seconds alternating sledgehammer swings
- 45 seconds kettlebell high pulls
Rest for 30 secs- 1 min then repeat x2
Finisher 2
- 30 seconds alternating battle ropes
- 30 seconds barbell clean and press
- 30 seconds deadlift
- 30 seconds slams
Rest for 30 secs- 1 min then repeat x2
Finisher 3 – bodyweight
- 30 seconds burpees
- 30 seconds mountain climbers
- 30 seconds press ups
- 30 seconds plank
Rest for 30 secs- 1 min then repeat x2
How do you end your training sessions? If you have any other ways to finish your training sessions, let us know – we love a challenge!
