I’m not sure whether it’s anything to do with it being the month of January…New Year, New You and all that jazz, but in the past couple of weeks we have seen more enquiries from companies who want to improve employee health and wellbeing.
Whilst you could argue that it’s up to the individual to look after their own health and fitness, I think it is great that more and more companies are becoming responsible for this in the work place. Whether you want to call it corporate wellness, employee wellness, employee health & wellbeing, the benefits of investing in this are invaluable to a company, after all, happy & healthy employees = more productivity at work and less sickness.
The benefits of investing in employee health and well being are:
* Reduced stress levels
* Reduced staff sickness levels
* Improved workplace relationships
* Improved employee productivity
* Improved staff retention rates, therefore reducing costs of training new staff
A study performed in the United States found that companies which had exercise programs as part of their wellness programs had reduced healthcare costs by 30%, decreased short-term sickness from 38 to 32%, and workplace productivity increased from 50 to 52%. There is also the financial benefit, a report in 2011 from the US analysed 50 studies which found that ROI of employee health and wellbeing programmes ranged from $1.17 to $6.04.
We have offered successful health and wellbeing programmes for a number of years of motive8 North and, just like with personal training, they are successful because we EDUCATE the employees about why they should be making certain healthier choices in their lifestyle. We believe someone who is educated will be empowered to make the correct lifestyle changes and decisions to allow them to lead a healthy lifestyle for the long term, not just view the change as a short term fix. Employee Health and Wellbeing Programmes offered by motive8 North:
Wellness Groups – A 12 week programme focused on improving the health and wellbeing of the group through educational sessions about what is a healthy diet, exercise, how sleep affects weight loss, managing stress, the effects of sugar, etc. These packages are tailored to the individual companies we work with.
Wellness Seminars – These are 60 minute seminars which cover topics such as Improving Your Posture at Work, Managing Stress, Healthy Eating & How To Eat Healthy In the Workplace, How To Fit Regular Exercise Into A Busy Schedule.
Onsite Classes – We deliver a whole host of onsite classes ranging from Boot Camps, Legs Bums and Tums, Pilates, Yoga….if you have the space, we can do a class!
Corporate Motive8 Games – This is a fun team building event where teams pit themselves for the top place competing in events such as sack races, egg and spoon, obstacle courses, etc.
