Here is a recipe for some healthy burgers! Burgers are often associated with being unhealthy but if you make them yourself they can be a healthy option for the BBQ season. A good homemade healthy burger can still be tasty and filling without the bun!
Even if its not good BBQ weather they taste great under the grill or on a George Foreman. Serve with the crunchy courgette salad
Ingredients
- 1 small onion
- 500g good-quality beef mince
- 1 egg
- 1 tbsp vegetable oil
- Herbs and spices
Salad
- 2 large courgettes
- 3 tbsp olive oil
- 1 tbsp lemon or lime juice
- 1 tbsp clear honey
- 2 tsp poppy seeds
- 1 small garlic clove, crushed
Method
Combine all the ingredients for the burgers together in a bowl and then divide into 4 burgers.
Place in the fridge for 3o minutes.
Cook on the BBQ until cooked to your liking (if the weather isn’t warm enough place on the grill!)
Whilst preparing the burgers, grate the courgettes on the coarse side of your grater. Toss them with the olive oil, lemon or lime juice, clear honey, poppy seeds and the crushed garlic clove. Add salt and pepper to taste. Serve as soon as possible (or it will get too watery).
Enjoy!
