I Hate Being Ill!

A Day In The Life of a PT

Sorry, sorry, sorry! I know I haven’t blogged for the past few days. Bad Jenny! I will aim to do better this week I promise! I’ve been a bit under the weather and I hate being ill!

Last weekend started off great! I must say that whilst working in London I felt like I was fighting something but Saturday morning came and I felt ok. Saturday is a busy day for me with my personal training sessions in Leeds. My first client last Saturday was 6am which is quite early for a Saturday. Normally my first session is 7am or 8am but I still like to get in an hour earlier and do some paperwork beforehand. I had four sessions back to back at the studio on Saturday , my first client has recently had a couple of injuries which stopped her from running for a few months so we have spent some time working on strengthening work and gradually building up her running again and it all is paying off! Yeah! This client just needs to believe in herself now, she can run 10k no problem at all but seems to doubt her ability when working on her paces so that is our next target! One of my other sessions at the studio was with one of my clients who I have been training for over 5 years and her sessions (just like all of my clients!) are always enjoyable, come rain or shine she always works her socks off and for this client it’s not just about the number on the scales but about how she looks and feels and she has been getting some great compliments recently! At the moment she is really focused on using the block plan to help her with her diet and it all seems to be working by giving her structure to what she needs to eat and making sure she gets the right balanced of food groups to achieve her goals.

Following the sessions at the studio I had a couple of home personal training sessions to do and then it was back to the studio for a spring clean! Our personal training studio in Leeds is in an old listed building and whilst we all clean the studio on a daily basis I felt it need a bit of TLC at the weekend so I spent the afternoon scrubbing! Oh, the glamour of being a personal trainer and business owner!

As I drove home, I started to feel like I was coming down with cold! Uh oh! Determined not to let it ruin my weekend I went home to spend some time with my hubby. We didn’t really do much on Saturday, as I’d been working in London on Thursaday and Friday we just spent Saturday night chilling out with some nice food and catching up. But….I was in bed for about 10am feeling shattered! Not a good sign!

On Sunday I had a 10 miler planned, but as I’d woke up with a significant sniffle I thought it better to adapt my plan and only ran 8 miles instead. The first 2 miles were horrible, my legs felt like lead, but after that it felt great and I thought maybe my cold wasn’t too bad! An hour later after my shower it was a different story! I felt rotten, so Sunday was just spent mouching around and not doing anything too lively other than doing some batch cooking for the week ahead. I hate being ill! To be honest, my gut instinct was not to go running in the morning but I’m such a stubborn thing sometimes and I don’t like missing sessions on my plan!

Yesterday (Monday) I still didn’t feel too great so I listened to my body for once and had an unscheduled rest day. I must say I feel better for it today and hopefully I can make up for the session later in the week instead!

Hope you’re having a great week!
