Next week is “National Bike Week”. That’s right, the 9th – 17th of June is Bike Week 2018. It seems as though I couldn’t have timed my latest challenge any better! I’ve committed to cycling 100 miles during the month of June – are you going to get on your bike in support of bike week? If you’re based in or near Leeds, there’s no excuse not to. There are lots of events going on.
Leeds Events:
I found all of these on the website http://bikeweek.org.uk/
They are FREE events!!
- MTB Social Ride organised by Saltaire Brewery. Click here for more information.
- 13th June Bike Night.
- 17th June Intermediate Ride.
Then I found another GREAT website called Leeds Cycling Campaign and there are LOADS of events on there!
There are also apps and competitions all aimed at getting more people on their bikes: https://www.lovetoride.net/uk?locale=en-GB
No Bike? No Problem!
The Love to Ride people have also organised a “Cycle September” – so there’s plenty of time to get one! Alternatively if you still want to take part in a cycling challenge, have a look at “Race At Your Pace” . You can log any bike miles – spin bikes and exercise bikes are included.
Beyond Bike Week
If getting on your bike during bike week gets your cycling juices flowing, there are always cycling events around. From races and sportives to leisure rides and children’s events. The British Cycling website lists all these. If you want to join any events with the Motive8 Team, I’m doing the 60 mile or “enjoy thissen” Yorkshire Lass Sportive again this year on the 5th August.
