Ieuan’s Full Body Beasting
The following full body beasting is one that I personally did last week. It was the perfect mid-week full-body smash that tapped into elements of strength, power, and conditioning. It takes a very compound approach that tries to work multiple muscles groups and really challenge the body. Some of the kit you may not have access to, but I will offer an alternative.
Strength Elements:
The idea in this section is to load heavy weights that challenge the stated reps. It is here you can expand that ego and put some big numbers on the bar.
A1: Barbell Squats – 4 sets – 5, 3, 3, 2, 1 reps
A2: Barbell Push Press – 4 sets – 5, 3, 3, 2, 1 reps
A3: Weighted Pull Ups – 4 sets – 5 reps
Power Elements:
In this section you are looking to drop the weight to about 50-60% max and focus more on moving the bar and your body quickly. We are looking for explosive movements here so don’t let that bar slow down.
B1: Barbell Clean – 5 sets – 3 reps
B2: Broad Jump – 5 sets – 3 jumps
Conditioning Elements:
Here is where we want to really see the sweat, lift that heart rate, and get ourselves breathing heavy. Focus on really maxing out on your effort. If this means more weight on the sled, lengthening the track, or simply doing more reps then do it – don’t slack off here!
C1: Prowler Push – 4 sets – 2 x 20m lengths (No Prowler? Just do overhead walking lunges)
C2: Ball Slams – 4 sets – 12 reps
C3: Burpees – 4 sets – 10 reps
C4: Plank – 4 sets – 45 seconds
This workout was fairly brutal and it took a few days of waddling up and down stairs before my legs felt like my own again. This is just one session that makes up my training week. I have taken to a very varied approach to my training as I find myself getting bored easily nowadays with training so need shorter sharper sessions that make me feel worked. Hope you enjoy as much as I did (eventually).
