It’s the last few weeks before Christmas and, if you haven’t already it’s time to start thinking about your Christmas shopping. In addition to keeping yourself healthy and active, it’s important to keep the children in your live healthy and active, so here are our top 5 fitness toys for children.

For children it is an extremely exciting time of year and they can make a list of toys that never ends,  here are some great toy ideas that will give your children hours of fun but also keep them active.
Trampoline

The trampoline has been entertaining children and adults for years and can be great fun whilst also increasing the heart rate and improving your cardiovascular fitness without even realising! You can buy them with safety nets around them meaning you can cater for toddlers as well as older children. Lucy still often uses here nieces trampoline and relives her  GCSE PE trampolining routine, showing they can be enjoyed by the whole family!

Roller Blades and Heelys

Fitness Toys For Children

These have been going for years but according to my 6 year old niece they are the new big thing. Ive bought her some Heelys which are a pair of trainers with wheels that pop out if the heel and double up as rollerblades. These are great to keep children active, whilst working on their balance and core strength.

Adjustable Table Tennis Set

Another great game for kids and adults alike, so a great way for the whole family to keep fit! The great thing about table tennis it is that you can play at a steady pace or it can be played at a high intensity. In addition to developing children’s agility and fitness it is also great for improving hand eye co-ordination and decision making.

Nerf Gun

Nerf guns have been around a while now but they are always developing and are still a very popular toy. The soft bullets make them harmless and if you have a couple a nerf gun war can be played outside or in and are a great way to help your little ones burn off some energy without realising they are exercising.

Olympic Rings

These can attached to most surfaces such as trees and climbing frames and the height can be adjusted to accommodate most ages and adults…these are a great way of developing strength and coordination fantastic for any budding gymnasts. They are also great fun!

Keeping children as active as possible is not only fantastic for their health but also their mental well-being and decision making skills. An added bonus is these presents can also provide endless hours of fun for you and the whole family.
