Exercise Classes….Jenny….The New Jane Fonda?!

A Day In The Life of a PT

Posted on April 02, 2014 by Jenny Cromack

Hello, hope you have had a good last couple of days…I certainly have!

On Monday I took a rare half day, so after a couple of personal training sessions in the morning, doing my own training session – Monday was weights, plyometrics and flipping a tyre around for a bit (I was going to write throwing a tyre around but this would be a lie….the thing is almost as big as me!) – followed by the exciting task of the weekly banking and some admin work I took myself off to Waterfall Spa for the afternoon. The motive8 personal training team had bought me gift vouchers for my birthday last year so I thought I would treat myself (maybe they are trying to tell me something!).

I had an afternoon of relaxing, although I must say I do find it quite hard to switch off. I went by myself for a bit of ‘me’ time but it got a bit boring not having anyone to talk to! As part of the afternoon I had a couple of treatments, a Lime & Ginger Salt Glow and an Indian Head Massage which included the most immense back and shoulder massage I’ve had for a long time! The therapist really worked into those knots and tension….it was amazing! Believe it or not, I used to be a Health Club and Spa Manager at Sienna Spa in Manchester, so it’s always nice to have a treatment and be the customer!

Yesterday was another good day. Again a couple of clients in the morning and then a 6 mile hilly run as part of my training plan in the morning. I did a loop from the personal training studio at Marshalls Court into Kirkstall and Headingley and it was such a nice morning for running. I love this team of year for running….not too cold, not too hot…..perfect! I had a meeting with Kate mid-morning. Kate is the studio manager at our Saxton Fitness Studio so we meet every other week to discuss promotions, new classes, etc. The Saxton studio is great, if you enjoy exercise classes you should come along and give one of our fitness classes a whirl (email me and I’ll send you  a free class pass), there is a real community atmosphere there and everyone who comes along to the classes is really welcoming. I know from the various gyms I have worked at that people often say going to a class for the first time can be quite daunting as everyone seems to know each other and knows what they are doing but at Saxton it honestly isn’t like that, everyone who comes to our exercise classes are really friendly and I know some great friendships have been made through coming to the classes. I think we are one of the only gyms in Leeds City Centre which offer pay as you go exercise classes, whilst we do offer monthly memberships the pay as you go classes work for many people as it gives them flexibility and means they can compliment their personal training sessions or gym workouts with a class. On the subject of Saxton, I taught Pump again last night……I really enjoyed it, the class was nice and busy and the buzz afterwards was great! I thought my days of teaching classes were over but now I’m reconsidering!

Have another healthy and active day, Jenny x
