Well I’m a bit disappointed this morning…..I did a hard interval training session yesterday on the canal, 1 mile reps, with 1/2 time recovery x 6. I even had better splits for the miles than I did last week….so why am I disappointed, surely I should be pleased! Well I am pleased with the training session but I’m disappointed that I don’t ache! Maybe I shouldn’t speak too soon…..maybe the DOMS will set in later but I don’t think so, I’m the type of person who aches the next morning after a session.

If you follow us on Facebook you will know that I had mega DOMS on Tuesday…..so much so that every time I got up out of a chair I winced and I walked like I was an old lady. The worse thing is, I couldn’t pin point what had caused it. My thinking is that it was the 1 min sprints I’d done on Monday, combined with a legs session after. Whatever it was the run I did on Tuesday, did seem to help to loosen them off for Wednesday!

This week has been a good week for training, apart from a docile dog getting in my way when I was doing my mile sprints on the canal! You can imagine the ‘Jenny look’ the owner got from me. Getting interrupted when you’re three quarters through your fourth interval, your lungs are on fire and your legs are burning with lactic acid is not fun! But other than that, a good week! I’m in the last week of anaerobic training and so as from next week I go back to aerobic capacity training and that means my mileage starts to increase in preparation for the Marathon!

I’ve also decided this year to try a triathlon, it’s something I’ve always fancied doing but I’ll be honest I’m not the greatest cyclist so that part has always put me off. There is a ladies only mini-triathlon at The John Charles Centre which is part of the Pink Triathlon Series so I have entered this. The longest triathlon is 300m swim, 9k bike and 3k run, so I thought I’d give that distance a go and see how much I enjoy it. One of my kind clients has loaned my her road bike so I went out on that last night……it was interesting! The route I choose was fine for my fitness levels, but I wasn’t sure about cycling on the roads, but I’m sure I’ll get used to it! I know I said I haven’t got DOMS today but have got a bit of a sore backside as I’m not used to being sat on a bike!

I’ve got two training sessions left this week, a strength session today and then a 13 mile run tomorrow which I’m looking forward to.

Hope you have all had a good week of training, and if you still have some sessions to go then give them everything you have got!
