12 weeks, 3 months or one quarter of a year isn’t a great length of time. When you’re focused on a single goal, well driven and motivated you can do amazing things, especially with the support and guidance from a personal trainer. Evelien started personal training with us in mid-September, she was already in good shape and had participated in classes for months. When she first started personal training she weighed in 61.1kg and had a body fat reading of 24.49%. This places her in the fitness category of normative data for females of her age, after a consultation and looking at some pictures of where she wanted to be, we set goals, put together a plan of action, and started the Do It In 12 mission.

Evelien’s goals were to get leaner, look athletic without looking masculine, and carve out those abs!

On the 23rd of December it was final measurement day, Evelien weighed in at 57.3kg with a body fat of 18.03%, 6.5% lower than when she started, putting her into the Athletic catogory for body fat norms! This is an amazing achievement in 12 weeks. Over the course of the 3 months she had dropped in total 4.7kg of fat tissue, and gained almost 1kg of muscle. Very impressive numbers for a petite female!

When you start as lean as Evelien, losing fat without losing all of your muscle mass is a very hard task and requires a detailed food plan! Simply cutting calories is a recipe for disaster! She consumed 4 meals a day which I had planned for her, trained 4 days per week following her bespoke training plan and gave 100% to everything she did.

Over the course of the 12 weeks Evelien worked her way through the food plans and even found herself having chocolate porridge, days where she was consuming over 350g of carbohydrates, homemade burgers or even haloumi for breakfast. One thing I’m sure she will tell anyone is she wasn’t hungry ever! How many fad diets can say that!

What will shock most people is that Evelien spent 95% of her training time completing resistance training, not hours on a treadmill or rowing machines but using carefully constructed resistance plans, where literally every second of the movement is prescribed, from the speed of the barbell during a lift to the rest between sets.
