A Simple Summer Twist
We love porridge in this team!! With the weather as it is, it can be hard to stick to your usual food routine and eat something hot, especially when the heat is suppressing your appetite. The last thing I want to be eating is hot porridge in 20 degree heat! I created a simple summer twist on the breakfast classic bowl of porridge so I can still stick roughly to my diet plan for my body building competition.
Ingredients
1 sachet\ 40-50g of oats \ porridge
100ml of fat free yogurt (I use vanilla flavour) – you can use any type of yogurt but the lower calories per serving the better
1 handful of mixed berries – using seasonal fruits such as strawberries helps give your breakfast a more summery feel. Alternatively freezing your blueberries the night before makes it feel like you’re eating sorbet!
1 banana
1 scoop of whey protein (optional)
Method
This breakfast alternative is really simple to make and can either be done in the morning or as overnight oats! pour the oats and yogurt into the bowl and stir round until it has the consistency of porridge. If you are adding protein then add it during this stage.
Add the berries and stir them in so they’re not all just on the top!
Lastly slice the banana and layer it over the surface of the oats to finish the dish. As a tasty finishing touch you can add a sprinkle of cinnamon over the top to add some contrast of flavours!
Give it a go and let me know what you think,
Joe
