We recently posted a motivational monday picture which listed some of the excuses people come up with not to work out: I’m tired, it’s too cold, it’s too hot, its raining, it’s too late – you get the idea. In the time it takes to come up with those excuses, you could have done this workout! An awesome, little 20 minute full body workout. The beauty of this 20 minute full body workout is that it covers everything quickly, with minimal kit, which just lends itself to the expression – LET’S GO!!
It’s two 10 minute rounds, 10 exercises and each exercise is 1 minute long. There is no rest between these exercises, just a rest between the rounds. This means you could always just do one round – that’s just 10 minutes of work – and you’d still feel like you’ve had a workout. Each round consists of cardio, resistance, core and the resistance element is lower body or upper body.
Space will dictate which cardio exercise you pick for each round, but that truly is the only limitation. With the exception of one exercise each round (and you could always change that one), most of this 20 minute workout can be done as body weight so no actual kit required. Personally I’d use a kettlebell or dumbbells.
Round 1
Remember, for both rounds 1 and 2, all exercises are performed for 1 minute, with minimal rest between exercises:
- Jog on the spot (if you have space you could jog and sprint, or run up and down the stairs)
- Squats (the KING of exercies)
- Ab cycles
- Jog on the spot
- Shoulder press (this is the one you can swap out if you don’t have kit, substitute with press ups instead)
- Mountain climbers
- Jog on the spot
- Lunges
- Plank (yes for a minute)
- Jog on the spot
Round 2
- Star Jumps (well they are the queen of exercises)
- Press Uups (do as many on your feet as possible)
- Crunches or toe touches
- Star jumps
- Curtsy lunge
- Russian twists
- Star jumps
- Forward raise, side Raise (again you can swap this out, if you don’t have any kit do tricep dips instead)
- Side plank (change sides half way)
- Star jumps
And there you have it a great 20 minute total body workout! Make sure you warm up and cool down as always. Oh and …….. I’m not sorry!
