The Wasabi website boasts that the sushi is made from scratch in-branch every morning and uses only the freshest and finest ingredients – and I have to say, I’ve never been disappointed! The thing with Wasabi is that you don’t have to like fish (or rice for that matter) to eat there – I’m vegan afterall! And that’s the great thing, it’s suitable for the majority of dietary requirements – meat eaters, gluten free, vegetarians, carb cycling, weight loss and so on. The website even contains a link to the nutritional values of everything the shop sells like a food label, and additionally it lists whether that food stuff contains egg, seeds, gluten and so on. Personally I find this really helpful.

As well as the obvious sushi ingredient, there is also chicken, egg and a variety of vegetables to choose from. There are salads, soups and hot bento. If this isn’t enough to get your taste buds going, there’s some other reasons to try it listed below:

Workout Food
Wasabi is the perfect place to come for a pre workout snack (if you don’t have time to eat a meal before your workout) or for your post workout meal. Before a workout we need to ensure your glycogen stores are full, we also know that after a hard workout your fuel of blood sugar and glycogen should be low. Individual sushi is a perfect pre workout snack, and to put it simply, to maximise muscle recovery, it’s best to consume some fast-digesting, fast acting carbs along with high quality protein after your workout….helloooooo sushi!

Nutritional Health Benefits
Fish contains Omega 3, provides high protein content and is low fat
Wakame seaweed as well as tasting nice contains Magnesium, Iodine, Calcium, Iron and Vitamins (A, C, E, K D, B2)!
Edamame Beans contain Calcium, Potassium, Iron, Zinc, Magnesium, Manganese and Copper.

Of course with great food choice comes great responsibility – you need to watch your portions and your selections. For example, some of the hot food is coated with bread crumbs, smothered in sauces or fried; too much rice on a weight loss programme will not help you towards your goals; and miso soup is quite high in sodium. But at Wasabi, you pick what you want to eat, and luckily there is always enough selection for you to pick from…just choose wisely and enjoy!
