More running and cycling!
A Day In The Life of a PT
Posted on June 17, 2014 by Jenny Cromack
So my love for cycling continues to grow…..as always it will never take the place of my one true love….running, and maybe love is a strong word……I LIKE it at the moment. Going off at a tangent but this will hopefully make you laugh, when I got married, Joel and I met the vicar in the lead up to the big day to discuss the service and the vicar asked about what we both really loved in life….before I could answer, Joel said ‘well Jenny’s will be work, exercise and then me!’…..at least he knows where he lies in my list of priorities (joke!).
So, back to cycling, yes I’m enjoying it more and getting more confident on the road which increases the enjoyment factor. On Saturday I cycled 15 miles and when I came back I realised I felt quite peaceful (if you can after exercise) and the most chilled out I have done for ages. I figured that the reason I feel like this when I’ve been cycling is because I don’t think of anything else other than making sure I stay safe on the road and keeping my legs turning, whereas when I run I’m either thinking about how hard I’m working or having various thoughts of work and life whirling around my head and yes, whilst I do feel destressed when I come back from a run, I don’t seem to feel as ‘chilled’ as I do when I come back from cycling.
I also ran the same route I cycled on Saturday, with a slight variation on the way home so I ran through Golden Acre park. Why can’t I blinking run as fast as I cycle….the same distance when I was running took over an hour and ten minutes longer….it’s not fair! My run on Sunday was great, legs and lungs felt strong so all good as I continue to build up my miles. I really feel like I’m getting my nutrition and hydration pretty much spot on at the moment.
I ran home last night and then cycled in this morning, after I had trained my morning personal training clients I then did my strength session for today…..I love getting to 10:30am and already knowing that I’ve done my exercise for the day in addition to putting some personal training clients through their paces too!
I bet you’re getting bored about my posts about running and cycling so I’ll be more inventive in my next blog. Promise!
