Stuck In A Food Rut!
A Day In The Life of a PT

Forgive me motive8 fans for I have sinned! A few weeks ago I committed a sin I tell my clients not to do and that is get stuck in a food rut! Slap on the wrist for me! And yes, before you ask I do plan my food, so how on earth did this happen?!
Anyway, it was time for some action so a week or two ago, to get out of my food rut, I bought a new vegetarian cookery book and a cooking magazine with loads of vegi recipes in and I made a pact that every week I would try some new recipes. On Sunday I went a step further and made sure that every lunch and evening meal I ate this week would be a new recipe I hadn’t tried before. It’s been great!
I’ve probably mentioned before that I love cooking so making these new recipes has been a great way of chilling out after work and experimenting with some new meals. I attempted to make my own falafels…….one recipe I used worked fine and the added chilli gave them a nice kick, the other recipe I tried was a bit of a disaster, the falafels didn’t really bind together that well so I just placed the mixture on a baking tray and baked it instead then just sprinkled it over my salads. Deconstructed falafels I think they would call them in fancy restaurants! To be honest as much as they didn’t resemble a falafel the mixture was still really tasty as instead of chickpeas the recipe used seeds and nuts! I’ve also made my own aubergine dip and chickpea and spinach humous for snacks – these taste amazing! I even made my own granola…….ooooooh isn’t that a bad word at motive8? not this one, seeds, nuts, rolled oats and a small amount of honey….all baked in the over for a nice high protein vegi breakfast!
I’ll be honest too, since I’ve varied things around for the past week I’ve felt a lot better. More alert, more energy and less bloated. So, I’ve made a promise to myself now, no more eating the same things week in week out, variety is the key! I knew that anyway, it’s good to practice what you preach :O)
