How many times have you brought home a lovely, juicy looking steak only to end up chewing on what resembles a flip flop after its cooked? After an absolute steal of a buy at the market, my new quest is to cook the perfect steak. My aim is medium rare so cooking times may vary depending upon your preference. Steak packs a mighty protein punch and also contains a decent helping of creatine, which helps with strength; and the fat (not too much now) can help boost testosterone levels. The verdict? Eat beefy to get beefy.
The meal
The Side:
Having steak wouldn’t feel right without a nice helping of chips, but as this a healthy blog we’ll use sweet potatoes.
- Chop the potatoes into whatever shape chips you’d like, preferably uniform in size.
- Boil the kettle and stick the chips into the pan and boil for around 5 minutes, maybe longer as sweet potatoes take more time.
- Drain then pop onto a tray, add olive oil, salt and pepper then pop in the oven for about 30 minutes on around 200 degrees.
The Meat:
OIL THE STEAK NOT THE PAN
- Drizzle some olive oil onto the steak and rub it into the steak.
- Hearty seasoning of salt and pepper.
- Heat the pan on high.
- Once the pan is hot, add the steak.
- Flip the steak every minute for 6 minutes to achieve medium rare.
- To make it extra jazzy there are a few touches you can add to achieve the perfect steak. Apply butter to each side on the last two minutes to make it juicier. For some flavour, place a sprig of rosemary or a halved bulb of garlic on top during cooking.
If steak is your thing, here’s another great recipe.
Thank me later,
