Are you a savvy seasonal shopper?! And I don’t mean that you’ve started bikini or beach shorts shopping just because you’re going on holiday! I mean, do you buy your food based on the seasons? Eating ‘seasonally’ is certainly a bit of a buzz phrase, and some people may even think it’s trendy, but there are more benefits to eating seasonally….
Health Benefits
Seasonal foods provide a higher nutritional content than out of season veg and fruit, providing an abundance of vitamins, minerals, antioxidants, enzymes and phytochemicals which are important to your health.
Tasty!
Eat a food in season and you will often find it is tasty and full of flavour than when eaten out of season.
Helps The Local Economy
Eating seasonally helps to support local farmers, which helps to support your local economy
Helps Your Pocket!
Food in season is often much cheaper than when bought out of season, saving money on your food bills (so you can spend it on that new bikini/beach shorts!)
So, now I’ve convinced you about eating seasonally, here is a link to which foods are in season when, and some seasonal recipes for July taken from our previous blogs for you to try this month!
