toned legs personal training
Put the fake tan down, step away from the step machine & stair masters and don’t even think about using one of those abductor/adductor machines…earlier this week we posted a workout for how to get perfect pins, now lets talk about that question we, as personal trainers , hear all the time ‘How do I get toned legs? Here are some tips about how to get toned legs, and remember…give our workout a whirl too!

Motivation & Patience
It’s one of the more stubborn areas to lose weight from and as such you need to find something which is going to motivate you. Whether it’s a picture of your favourite celeb, a pair of skinny jeans, or your leg measurements stuck to your fridge – it needs to keep you going.

Food
For some time there was a belief that certain foods would go “straight to your thighs” – sugar, caffeine and alcohol to name a few. The fact is, your thighs get bigger when you gain weight – and depending on your body type, you may be prone to storing fat on your hips and thighs rather than anywhere else. The trick is to change your diet to target losing body fat full stop. And before you ask, there are no foods that can target just the fat on your hips and thighs (we used to believe grapefruit would help reduce the appearance of cellulite!), or anywhere else on your body!

If you’ve read our blogs for some time, you will know it’s not possible to spot reduce problem “fat” areas. It’s not simply a matter of working out the muscles that lie under the fat, so exercises that focus on muscles in the hips and legs such as those in our weekly workout are a good idea so that they are nicely toned as fat burns away, but you need to focus on a full body approach.
