Le Tour Yorkshire! Allez Allez!!

A Day In The Life of a PT

Are you excited about the Tour De France or Le Tour Yorkshire? I am! I must say when I first heard about ‘Le Tour’ coming to Yorkshire I wasn’t that bothered but I’ve really become caught up in all of the hype!

I’ve remember reading Bradley Wiggins’ book on holiday last year and being quite fascinated with his training regime, his attitude and aptitude towards training and also the roles of each of the riders. For someone who is quite competitive it was quite hard to get my head around the fact that some of the riders train just to help a cyclist like Wiggins or Froome actually win. But, I guess it’s about working together as a team and knowing your role within this team (just like motive8 in the Dragon Boat Race without the win!!!).

When I started seeing the yellow painted bikes on my drives to and from work I started getting excited, to me they signified a city coming together and making an event a huge success. They were the start of something big for the city. Over the last 2 months as I have been cycling, running or driving around the City Centre and towns such as Ilkley, Otley and Pool it’s been great to see the changes as the towns and city centre become yellow-er and yellow-er! (I know yellow-er isn’t a word!).

I guess the reason I like this feeling relates back to the blog I wrote yesterday about creating an exercise community. I feel like Le Tour is creating a community within Leeds, and it is exciting seeing lots of people come together to celebrate an event. It will also hopefully encourage more people to cycle and become fitter and healthier. I feel like I’ve seen more cyclists recently, maybe it’s just me who is more aware of them now since I’ve started cycling, but whatever it is that has encouraged these people is great!

I hope Le Tour inspires everyone to become more active and if wherever you are going to watch it, enjoy it! It’s a part of history that you certainly shouldn’t miss!
