THE SHOW MUST GO ON
A Day In The Life of a PT | Exercise

I’m about to fly out to Paris for a weekend away with my husband this morning. My friends will think I’m crazy, but my personal training clients will expect nothing less about what I’m going to say next. I’ve been sat here since 6:15am working and drinking water so I can get out for an early morning run before we fly!
No matter whether I am on holiday or where I am, it is important to me that I keep up with my exercise routine. If I want to achieve my goal of getting a PB in the Yorkshire Marathon and in a Half Marathon (not decided which one yet!) this year it is essential that I stick to my training plan. Of course I understand that recovery days and taper weeks are important but this week doesn’t call for either so the show must go on.
Wherever we go, myself and my husband choose a hotel with a gym. Luckily Joel, my husband, trains a fair bit so I don’t feel too bad that keeping up with our training regimes whilst on holiday is a priority. I also absolutely love running around places I have never visited before as I think you get to see the place in a different perspective to what you do when you’re doing all of the touristy things. When I’m away I prefer exercising on a morning, getting my workouts out of the way, so I can spend some precious time with Joel – we don’t get much time together so it’s important to make the most of our holidays and trips away!
I’m quite well known for having an appalling sense of direction so the last time we visited Paris I decided that on the first morning I went for a run I would take the tourist map with me! But where would I put it? I hate carrying things when I run so the best solution seemed to be to stick it down the back of my running pants! Surprisingly I didn’t need the map whilst I was running so it stayed stuck down my pants for the whole of the run. When I got back, Joel asked to take a look at the map which had now transferred to my back with the amount I had sweated…..nice! Not a good look! But as you will already know by now, I don’t give too hoots what I look like when I run!
So, I’m going to love you and leave you and get my butt out of the door for a run before getting ready to pack. I’ve got motive8 North’s team of amazing team of personal trainers in Leeds in charge of putting my clients through their paces whilst I’m away so I guess I should go put myself through my own paces!
